Yoga at Uisneach: a Journey through the Celtic Calendar
Join us on the sacred and mythical Hill of Uisneach for a series of events to mark the seasons of the Celtic Calendar with yoga, music, fire and folklore.
Since pre-Christian times, Uisneach has been regarded as the ceremonial & sacred centre of Ireland. Yoga teachers Alice Harrison and Katy Harrison will facilitate the event, and they will be joined by their father, Jack Harrison, a yoga musician and folklorist.
Bealtaine is the Celtic festival of fire celebrating the coming of summer. The first fire of Bealtaine was lit on the hill of Uisneach and was the signal for the lighting of all other fires across the land.
Bealtaine, meaning Fires of Bel – a pre-Christian Sun-god and life giver – is a celebration of growth and abundance, the end of darkness and the potential for harvest. This event will be anchored in the indigenous wisdom of this Celtic celebration of fire, and the experience will allow us to deepen our connection with our own land, our ancestors and our inner guidance.
What to expect:
• Admission to Uisneach
• Intention setting fire ceremony
• Energising yoga practice
• Silent meditative walk
• Folklore and history
• Kirtan (yoga music)
• Vegan treats and teas
We are so looking forward to celebrating in this magical place with you.
